The production of Medico-Legal Reports (MLRs) form a core part of our clinical work. An MLR can play a crucial role in a survivor’s asylum application because they provide detailed evidence of the extent of a torture survivor’s injuries and trauma.

Every year Freedom from Torture’s doctors, psychologists and counsellors document evidence of the effects of torture through an important legal document: a Medico-Legal Report (MLR).
The Immigration Minister, Damian Green, has indicated that a report published today by Freedom from Torture will be used by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) to improve its processes in dealing with the asylum applications of torture survivors.
