Edale Folk Festival
A weekend of folk in the heart of the Peaks.
Come along to the Peak District this summer which will be home to a brand new folk festival nestled in the spectacular hidden valley of Edale.
Locally-bred musicians and national stars will be at the heart of a weekend of folk music, arts and poetry, where you can camp in beautiful surroundings, take a walk on the pennines, dance in the ceilidh, play in the sessions, and be inspired and entertained.
Bella Hardy, recently named Best Original Songwriter in the Radio Two Folk Awards will be appearing alongside The Destroyers, The Old Dance School and many other favourites from the national and local folk scene. As well as a jam packed programme of live music, there'll also be workshops for up and coming musicians and plenty of opportunity to try out your licks at the sessions and open mics.
Former Derbyshire Poet Laureate River Wolton will run a writing workshop as well as appearing on stage with Sheffield singing trio the Top Shelalas. Other workshops will be run by professional artists and craftspeople, with work on display for visitors to buy or just admire. It all takes place in the natural amphitheatre of Edale Valley, where anyone wanting a break from the music can climb the gentle slopes up to Kinder Scout, scene of the famous Mass Trespass that's celebrating its 80th anniversary.
