Can Europe do more to advance human rights?

CEO Keith Best and Survivors Speak Out at the European Parliament

In the run-up to the UN Human Rights Day on the 10th December, Freedom from Torture and the Survivors Speak OUT network made their way to Brussels last week to deliver keynote addresses at the European Parliament as part of a European Leadership Conference (ELC).

Participating in a panel debate which sought to explore how European states could do more to combat torture, SSO network member Philomene Uwamaliya (fresh from delivering a rousing speech at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London the week before) and Freedom from Torture CEO, Keith Best, offered their insights alongside Dr Charles Tannock, MEP.
