In 2009, British-Iranian film-maker Tina Gharavi had to smuggle parts of her debut film I am Nasrine out of Tehran.
Hot on the heels of the Olympics, chef Paul Merrett joined teammates Charlie, Greg and Marek for a cycling adventure from London to Paris - all to raise money for our work with torture survivors.
Gillian Bargery's thought-provoking story 'Days in July' won runner-up status in Freedom from Torture's 2012 short story competition on resilience and vulnerability. Here she talks about her life experiences and how they shaped her writing.

'Sporty types' look away now

On Sunday 20 May, Freedom from Torture supporters joined a 40,000 strong crowd of runners for the BUPA Great Manchester Run 2012. Social Media Co-ordinator Helen Nickols was one of the 22 runners fundraising for Freedom from Torture.
