Freedom from Torture relies heavily on the work of volunteer doctors who generously give their time and skills to document evidence of torture for Medico-Legal Reports. The evidence may be physical (such as scars and joint deformities), psychological or both. These reports are regarded by the courts as expert witness reports are represented by clients to support their asylum claims. The work is demanding, but it can potentially make the difference between a client gaining asylum in the UK or not. Most of our doctors are GPs by training, and we also have specialists in psychiatry, paediatrics, gynaecology, ENT, general surgery and ophthalmology. We are looking for Medical Practitioners with full GMC registration and considerable clinical experience, GP or specialist training on SpR or Consultant level.

Our next training will be in the autumn, location and dates will be advertised.
