Are you new to working with or supporting survivors of torture in a social care, health or legal setting?

This introductory one-day training is for people who are working with refugees and asylum seekers who have experienced significant trauma and/or torture

Overall aim: To support participants to engage with survivors of torture and/or trauma in their professional or voluntary roles

Learning objectives: By the end of the training participants will be able to:

• Explain what torture is and the impact it has on survivors

• Describe techniques for creating a safe relationship with survivors and building trust

• Talk about torture with clients / patients with increased confidence

• Explain what you can do in your own role to support survivors of torture and/or trauma

• Recognise the potential impact that working with survivors of torture may have on you
