Victoria Wood

We are very saddened by the untimely death of Victoria Wood, who has been a good friend to Freedom from Torture over the years.

This consummate Funny Lady was not only a superbly talented comedian, actress, singer and songwriter, screenwriter and director, but also a person of great warmth and humanity who was very generous with her time, supporting a raft of charities, including Freedom from Torture.

In addition to her generous financial gifts, Victoria supported our Bake for Freedom campaign, following her star turn on The Great Comic Relief Bake Off. More recently she was scheduled for an event with our supporters but sadly her illness meant this was not to be.

All in all Victoria, is a great loss: to her family, to comedy, to her legions of fans and to the causes she supported. We are honoured to have had that support. Thank you Victoria.
