Our Strategy 2026-2030
Together for a future free from torture.
Every torture survivor carries a story no one should ever have to live through. But with the right support, safety and compassion, recovery is possible. And that belief is at the heart of Freedom from Torture’s strategy for 2026–2030.
Through our frontline clinical services, our counsellors, psychotherapists, doctors and pain management specialists support survivors through the long journey to recovery. From one-to-one therapy and group activities to care for chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety, we help people begin to rebuild their lives. Our strategy sets out how we will reach more survivors with our life-changing services, amplify survivor leadership and defend the right to asylum and the torture ban.
At a time when more survivors than ever need our care and compassion, we have sharpened our focus and strategic direction for the years to come, ensuring that no survivor is left behind. Our long term ambitions are:
- for all survivors of torture across Britain to have access to the rehabilitation and medico-legal reports they need to recover and rebuild their lives in safety.
- for survivors to shape the solutions to the challenges they face as well as the services we deliver.
- for the UK to lead the way globally in upholding the absolute torture ban and the right to asylum.
- to grow our impact for survivors into the future by transforming our organisation, utilising our resources effectively and growing our income.
Time is of the essence when dealing with trauma. We know first-hand that early specialist support gives survivors the best chance of recovery and a future free from its most devastating effects.
And with more funding, we can reach more people when they need it most.
