40 Day Solidarity Challenge

40 years ago we were founded by a group of passion members who had a long term vision for Freedom from Torture in response to their absolute abhorrence of torture and their shared compassion for its victims. They refused to be silent. They committed to fighting for an end to torture. They stood in solidarity  with survivors. Like our founders 40 years ago, this September we are asking our supporters to stand in solidarity with survivors by taking part in our 40 day solidarity challenge.

Together, we have shown that we can be a powerful force for change. And, in 2025, the values, compassion and determination we share have never been needed more.

Sign up to our 40-day solidarity challenge from 1st September to 10th October and help us raise vital funds and show survivors that we won’t stop fighting for an end to torture.

There are many different ways in which you can get involved:

  • Walk 10,000 steps or a specific distance every day for 40 days
  • Walk or run 40 miles throughout September. You could even do a relay with friends or do a bigger distance.
  • Swim 40 lengths.
  • Set up a Facebook fundraiser and get 40 friends to donate
  • Craft 40 things (knitting, crochet, etc)
  • A sponsored walk or cycle to 40 local places of interest or walk 40 times around your local park.
  • 40 days of yoga
  • 40 acts of kindness
  • Or anything you like!

You can do your challenge on your own, with your family, or in another group! Anything, big or small, is welcome. And for anyone taking part, we will send you a t-shirt that you can wear on your challenge. Anyone who raises £100 will receive their very own special limited edition 40th anniversary pin badge.

As we hit this special milestone, we would love to see as many people as possible to take part and show survivors that 40 years on we continue to stand in solidarity.

We can't wait to hear what great activities you come up with!

For any questions regarding this challenge, feel free to email us at [email protected] and we'd be more than happy to help.
