Join us for a very special celebration of the life and work of Ausama al Khalil in support of Freedom from Torture and the Baghdad Central Training Hospital for Children

Late Iraqi artist Ausama al Khalil, was a distinguished designer and painter who worked in a number of mediums and held exhibitions throughout Iraq and Jordan as well as in England. He was also a survivor of torture, which left him with severe pain and disability. His beautiful collection offers a unique perspective on the trials and tribulations of refugees and asylum seekers, fleeing from war and civil unrest.

Ausama once said: When I am painting, I am feeling I am alive. Painting gives the power to feel alive. When painting, sometimes my mind does not think about my suffering and this gives me hope for the future.

Freedom from Torture supporters and friends of Ausama have organised for his artworks to be auctioned online with all proceeds going to Freedom from Torture and the Baghdad Central Training Hospital for Children.

The auction will be live from 21 April, 10am – 5 May 2022, 9pm.

You can view the unique collection and place a bid here.
