Photography competition 2026: Hope & Sanctuary

Calling photographers of all ages, nationalities and technical skills to be a part of Freedom from Torture’s third photography competition.
 

This year we have two separate words as the themes: ‘Hope’ and ‘Sanctuary’

Feel free to enter an image which represents ‘Hope’ or an image which represents ‘Sanctuary’ or an image which represents both words combined.  You choose, and you can enter as many separate times as you like.

Everyone should be able to live with hope and with a sense of sanctuary, yet today there are 110 million people who have been forcibly displaced worldwide. Each person, with their own hopes, and dreams, forced to flee from violence, conflict and persecution, seeking sanctuary but leaving their homes, communities or countries behind. 

Prizes will be awarded in 3 categories – Under 18, Over 18 and a People’s Choice.

There’ll be winner for each category, plus a number of runners-up, decided by the judges.

Winning and shortlisted images will also be displayed in beautiful and busy galleries in both London and Edinburgh.
