Apply to join Freedom from Torture's Campaign Leadership Programme

We see people all over the world who need us to stand with them in the face of torture. Yet our government has just passed the anti-refugee bill, tearing up laws made in the wake of the holocaust.  These politicians don’t represent us - so it’s time we take to the streets.

The Freedom from Torture 2022 Leadership Programme is a fully-funded three month volunteer leadership programme for 25 people across the UK.

We’re going to build support for a welcoming, fair and kind country in our own communities. We’ll use talents and passions in our local areas to build campaign teams that can win - whether it’s in convincing local politicians to do something, or doing it ourselves.

Sign up so you can be a part of the fight back against the government’s  hostile anti-refugee agenda in your own community.

If you want to know how you can create a fairer, more welcoming community and country for torture survivors, this is for you.

It’s totally free and flexible - you can do it around work or university, or any other commitments you might have.

You’ll get the chance to have three training days across three months with some of the UK’s leading campaigners, learn tactics and tools - then go and win!

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for people who have the passion and drive to begin a long fight back against this government’s hostile, anti-refugee agenda - so we can begin creating a more compassionate system for torture survivors tomorrow.

Everybody’s welcome to apply - whether you’re 18 or 80, an experienced organiser or a campaigning newbie, in full-time work or about to start university. The most important thing is that you’re dedicated to building a more welcoming UK.

We would enthusiastically encourage applications from people who identify as belonging to one or multiple groups below:

  • Black, Asian or minority ethnic
  • A migrant, torture survivor, refugee or asylum seeker
  • Working class or from a working class background
  • LGBTQI+
  • Disabled and/or neurodivergent

You’ll need to be able to come to three training days - two in-person in our London office on July 16th and 17th, and one more online in August. We’ll cover the travel costs.
