East Sussex Group's South Downs Coastal Walk

Join our East Sussex supporters group on the 15th September for a choice of three beautiful coastal walks of varying difficulty all ending with delicious tea and cakes in East Dean.  Walks take between one and three hours and start in Exceat/Seaford, Eastbourne or East Dean. See below for more details on the three walks.

There will be a start time at 12pm and one at 1pm, depending on your chosen walk.

Walk 1 will start at midday at the foot of the Downs by Bede’s school in Eastbourne. We will go via Beachy Head and Cornish Farm to East Dean. It will be led by Jonathan Timberlake and will take about two and a half hours with stops for short talks about the ecology and management of this section of the Downs by Eastbourne Council. 

Walk 2 will start from East Dean village hall at 1. 15. We will go via Friston church to the coast at Crowlink and then over two of the Seven Sisters. There will be stops for readings from Kipling. The walk will take about an hour and three quarters and will be led by Jonathan Chiswell Jones. 

Walk 3 will also start from East Dean village hall, at 1.00 p.m. and will go to Birling Gap via Went Hill, returning via Cornish Farm. The walk will last about an hour and a half and will be led by Jenny Timberlake.
