Pride Month 2026

Queer is not a crime. Torture is.
In 2026, across the world, LGBTQ+ people are imprisoned, persecuted and tortured for who they are. Torture survivors can carry the deep physical and psychological scars of what they’ve endured.

During Pride Month and every day, we support LGBTQ+ survivors to process their trauma and rebuild their lives in an accepting community where they can live openly and celebrate their identify.
My past would still have been persecuting me. I would not have been able to think that there was a future for me

still criminalised: Same-sex relationships and gender identities.

Under some governments, people face imprisonment, violence, or even death for simply being authentic to themselves.

For many LGBTQIA+ people, pride and visibility doesn’t bring celebration. It brings danger.

At Freedom from Torture, we support survivors who have been detained, abused, and tortured because of their identity. With the right support, recovery is possible - but no one should have to survive this in the first place.

Our specialised therapy can help those who have fled to safety and freedom. Survivors who have endured painful experiences simply because of their gender or sexual identity show such strength and courage in sharing their experiences, and our clinicians are on hand to help them heal. Nobody should face persecution for being themselves.

Help LGBTQ+ Survivors Heal

Freedom from Torture at London Pride 2026.

We’re proud to be taking part in the London Pride March on Sunday 4 July 2026.

Freedom from Torture will be marching alongside colleagues, survivors, allies and supporters as we stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities.

Together, we celebrate resilience, champion equality, and raise our voices for the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ people everywhere.
