Refugee Week at the Victoria & Albert Museum
For Refugee Week 2019, Members of Write to Life performed new work they wrote in response to objects on display in the British, South Asian and Middle Eastern galleries of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Surprising, moving and revealing, this writing sheds unexpected new light on objects seen from the refugee perspective - in a way, refugees themselves.
Each writer has selected an object that spoke to their own experience – from the Great Bed of Ware to the Ardabil Carpet – and has written about them from a perspective entirely different from what most visitors to the Museum might expect. We hope these fresh insights will enable this week’s visitors to see the displays with new eyes.
