We are Together With Refugees!

Today, we’re proud to announce that we’re a part of Together With Refugees. Here’s everything you need to know about this new coalition, what we hope to achieve, and how you can get involved.

What is Together With Refugees?

Together With Refugees is a new coalition of more than 100 national, local, refugee-led and grassroots groups, who believe in showing compassion to people seeking asylum

What is Together With Refugees trying to achieve?

Together, we are calling for a better approach to supporting refugees that is kinder, fairer and more effective.

This means standing up for people’s ability to seek safety in the UK no matter how they came here. It means ensuring people can live in dignity while they wait to hear if they will be granted protection.

It means empowering refugees to rebuild their lives and make valuable contributions to their communities.

And it means the UK working with other countries to do our bit to help people who are forced to flee their homes.

Why is the work of Together With Refugees important?

In the wake of Priti Patel’s cruel ‘New Plan for Immigration’ - the biggest proposed overhaul of our asylum system in a generation, we need to work together to fight for a kinder asylum system.

Freedom from Torture is proud to be part of the new Together With Refugees coalition. We believe this group of powerful voices will be crucial in pushing back on the government's dangerous proposals.

Only by standing together can we confront the toxic and dishonest ideas that the government is attempting to ram through. They must not succeed.”

Steve Crawshaw, Policy & Advocacy Director, Freedom from Torture
